Burtonport Holiday Homes Donegal
A bustling fishing port in the west Gaelic region of Donegal. Considered one of the major sea angling centres in Donegal. There are regular sailings to Arranmore Island throughout the year.
This area is renowned for its catches of salmon, lobster and crab in the summer months – fresh seafood which (along with many other varieties) finds its way onto menus in The Lobster Pot is a family run pub with a national reputation for fresh home-cooked food and warm hospitality.
Burtonport used to be one of Ireland’s important harbours. Built at the end of the 19th century it served for all kind of fish. More recently it was used for white fish and shellfish as well as salmon. It seems that salmon and lobster is the last remaining business in the port as it is more and more converting to a seaside recreation area.
