Doonbeg Holiday Homes Clare
Doonbeg is a pretty seaside village in West Clare. It is situated between the towns of Kilkee and Miltown Malbay. The nearest large towns are Kilrush and Kilkee which are both approximately 11km away
The central point of the village is an architecturally important seven arched stone bridge which crosses the Doonbeg river and divides the village. The crossing is overlooked by the remaining fortifications of Doonbeg castle.
Doonbeg is sometimes referred to as “The Long Village” due to the length of its main street. It is reputed to be one of Ireland’s longest villages.
The village has recently become famous for its wonderful Links Golf Course. The Greg Norman designed Doonbeg Golf Club plays along 1.5 miles of beach and dunes.
The ocean is visible from the green, fairway, or tee on 16 of the 18 holes. The par 72 layout features a single loop of nine holes out and nine back. It plays 6,885 yards from the back tees.
Doonbeg is also a wonderful base for touring the County of Clare as it is just 10km from Kilkee with its golden sandy beach and Waterworld Leisure Complex and is also within easy driving distance of other popular tourist towns of Lahinch, Liscannor and Doolin.
Local events in Doonbeg include a Jazz Festival on the June Bank Holiday Weekend , a Family Festival during the second week of August and the Willie Keane Memorial Weekend – a traditional music and dancing festival held in Doonbeg every October Bank Holiday.
