Holiday Homes – most searched facilities

Ever wondered what guests really want from a holiday home in Ireland?  We’ve put together a list of the 5 most searched for facilities – if your holiday home does not offer one of these facilities you may think about introducing it for the coming season.

Pets Welcome

Dog owners often like to travel with their family pet, so if your holiday home is in an area with plenty of walking opportunities it’s worth considering accepting pets. Approx 30% of self-catering holidaymakers request this facility.

Sea View

A sea view is a definite plus for your property but be sure to let customers know the nature of your sea view so that they know exactly what to expect. Simply stating that your property has a sea view is not very informative. Better to be more specific. eg
Property is 100 meters from beach and has views of the sea from all ground and upper floor rooms.
Holiday home has distant sea views which can be seen from upper floor bedrooms. (3 miles to beach)

Barbecue

Nothing says summer like a barbecue and plenty of holidaymakers appreciate this facility. If you’ve got outdoor space then a barbecue, gas or charcoal, is a good idea. It’s thoughtful to provide barbecue cooking utensils and a set of plastic plates for the kids

Cot and Highchair

Parents traveling with babies need homes that have been kitted out with them in mind. Cots are a priority as they are particularly bulky to transport by car. Also consider a highchair and stair gates (if your holiday home has an upper floor)

Internet

Your guests may be on holiday, but they still want to keep up with home news and connect with friends – Wi-Fi connections are increasingly being sought after. If guests are bringing their own laptops, let them know any passwords they’ll need to access the Internet. If your holiday home does not have wifi, let guests know where they can access it locally – many pubs now offer this facility.
