Paul Weller to headline Sea Sessions
It’s official, music icon Paul Weller has confirmed that he will be headlining the Sea Sessions Surf Music festival in Bundoran on June 26th. The man behind the Jam, Style Council, and a personal array of solo success, such as Wildwood and more, is a major coup for the festival just in it’s third year.
‘To get a name like Paul Weller to play in Bundoran is just amazing’, said Declan Madden one of the organisers.’It shows the popularity of the festival not just with the public but also within the music industry’.
Weller will be playing Saturday the 26th in the Main marquee of the event which is held on the Main beach in Bundoran. As well as playing some of the hits from the Jam such as ‘Thats Entertainment’, ‘A Town called Malice’ and more he will also be showcasing his new album ‘Wake up the nation’.
Lean, mean and as uncompromisingly focused as it’s maker, Wake Up The Nation also brings Paul Weller full circle: twenty-eight years on from The Jam’s split, two tracks feature the band’s bassist Bruce Foxton.
“It’s been a long time, obviously, but we both really enjoyed it “ says Paul of this unlikely reunion.
Speaking about the new material getting its Irish Debut at Sea Sessions Madden said:
‘Its great timing as he is pushing some new material at the moment and it is really fresh – I think there will be even more interest than normal in this gig. We have a limited capacity because of the size of the site and tickets have already been selling very well for this year without us announcing the full line up’.
The Sea Sessions gig will be the First Irish gig of the Weller tour dates and as such is sure to be a full house.
